GASTAK Features

GASTAK is a unique physical adsorption/desorption system using spherical activated carbon called “BAC” for exhaust gas treatment and VOC (Volatile Gas Compounds) recovery.
In GASTAK, spherical beads of BAC absorb VOC molecules on fluidized beds and sequentially desorb them in a heating column, performing gas treatment and VOC recovery simultaneously.
GASTAK is an award-winning gas treatment system recognized in the 2003 Japan Society of Industrial Machinery Manufacturing Contest.
Delivering more than 600 GASTAK systems
in worldwide since 1973.

Advantages of Kureha's BAC

BAC(Bead Activated Carbon for Gas treatment system) is manufactured by Kureha Corporation.

Advantages of BAC
  1. High resistance against abrasion, less dust generation
  2. Small spherical grains which enable high-speed adsorption
  3. Excellent flowability with high sphericity suitable for fluidized bed system
  4. Low ash content
  5. Almost no deterioration over repeated reactivations

Advantages of Fluidized Bed System
  1. Stable and uniform operation by continuous adsorption in the fluidized bed and desorption in the transfer section
  2. Safe operation even for flammable solvents because of no heat accumulation in the fluidized bed
  3. Almost no waste water generation by using N2 or air for desorption gas
  4. System footprint can be minimized by increasing flow speed at the adsorption section which is one of the advantage of fluidized bed system
  5. No special knowledge or technique are required staffs required for GASTAK operation
Continuous Adsorption / Desorption System

  1. Adsorption Section (Fluidized bed)
    • Form fluidized bed of 15~20mm thickness
    • Adsorb VOC, Solvent and Odor from effluent gas
    • Clean treated gas is released to the atmosphere

  2. Desorption / Condensation Section
    • BAC used for adsorption is transferred to the that exchanger and heated under counterflow contact with the desorption gas which flows upward
    • Solvent vapor is transferred to the condenser and liquefied for recovery

  3. Transfer Section with Carrier Gas
    • Desorbed BAC is transferred to the top of the adsorption for the next adsorption process
